No domain yet? No problem — it only takes a few minutes and usually costs around $15–20 CAD per year. Here's how to grab one and connect it to your new Handshake MG site.

Pick a registrar and search your name

Go to any domain registrar and search for your business name. Try the exact name first, then variations (adding your city, "the," or "co") if it's taken.

Purchase the domain

Check out and complete the purchase. Stick with a standard .com if it's available — it's the safest, most recognizable choice for most businesses. A .ca is a solid alternative if you're Canada-based and .com isn't available.

Skip any "website builder," "hosting," or "email" add-ons during checkout — Handshake MG already covers hosting as part of your $30/mo plan.

Now connect it to your site

Open your domain's DNS settings

In your registrar's dashboard, find the domain you just bought and open its DNS settings (sometimes called "DNS Management," "Manage DNS," or "Advanced DNS").

Add these two DNS records

Add exactly these two records. If a record with the same host already exists (e.g. a default parking page record), replace it rather than adding a duplicate.

Save and let us know

Save your changes — it can take a couple of hours (occasionally up to 24) to fully take effect. Once it's saved, reply to your onboarding email or message us and we'll finish linking it on our end.

Not sure which domain to pick? Keep it short, easy to say out loud, and as close to your business name as possible. Avoid hyphens and numbers if you can.
